June Straw – A counsellor who cares

I am a humanist therapist with over 16 years of experience. I work with person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, transactional analysis, and psychodynamic therapy. I started my journey with the Samaritans before working in counselling at Derbyshire Constabulary. I then provided therapy to children in schools and adults in clinics. My knowledge, understanding and application of therapy and the therapeutic procedures are incredibly strong and varied.

I am are very passionate therapist. I specialise in building self esteem and truly believe everyone has the rights to be cared for, loved valued and respected. This is our human right, and as a counsellor I work hard in building a strong therapeutic relationship to enable my clients to explore their issues in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

It’s my passion to help people realise their potential in life. We sometimes fail to realise that our greatest task is not only about discovering self-love, It’s breaking down the walls life has built against it. Whatever your requirements, I’m here to provide the support you need in starting to build a better you.

Together We Can

Having worked closely with the police and prison services, The Samaritans and ISAS, I also worked for several years at The Place2Be where I gained extensive experience working with children of all ages. As a school's counsellor, I have helped support children and young adults through bullying, self-esteem issues, mood disorders, ADHD and autism. I have over 3-year Counselling and development workshops/training experience at dance and drama college and have spent the last 15 years working at a private well being clinic, helping people to use their own resource which enables better coping mechanisms to build confidence and self-esteem.

Please be mindful when considering if you will be able to attend a scheduled session. We have recently had an increase in clients not attending sessions or cancelling a session with only a few hours' notice. We understand that schedules can change, but unless a 48-hour notice period is given when cancelling an appointment, clients will be charged for the session.
